Weeki Wachee Springs is one of Florida’s most iconic and historic roadside attractions – entertaining audiences since 1947. Weeki Wachee is a Seminole Indian word meaning “little spring” or “winding river.”
18 feet below the spring’s surface, a small theater was built into the limestone so viewers could watch the “mermaids” eat, drink, play sports, do ballet and perform shows in elaborate costumes under the springs.
